STAFF and students at Muswellbrook South Public School were excited to officially open their new playground yesterday.
The new playground and equipment were formally opened by Federal Member for Hunter Joel Fitzgibbon and ResCo Services managing director Craig Ransley.
Various other official guests attended the ceremony, which was postponed from earlier in the year due to unforeseen weather conditions.
The school gained the support of ResCo Services in the construction of the facilities.
ResCo donated the funds to allow the playground to be established and Mr Ransley formally addressed the students yesterday on behalf of the company.
Mr Fitzgibbon recognised the uniqueness of the funding as usually he opens school projects that are government funded. “It is very good to see the mining companies putting something back into the community,” Mr Fitzgibbon said.
“It is important to continue to invest into our public schools to ensure children have the best possible chance of a good education,” he said.
Principal, Ian Ralston and school leaders took the official guests on a tour of the new playground before morning tea.
