Heelers win 87 to nil

20/06/2008 12:16:00 PM
Last weekend The Cross Country Ford Heelers 1st fifteen had their biggest win in many years to anihilate the Medowie Marauders by 87 points to nil.

In the Heelers last two outings they have compiled 125 points with only 3 against.

The Heelers were fielding a close to full strength side and dominated in all aspects of the game.

Players who impressed included Mat Gallagher and Mark Snow who have both played well over a number of weeks.

This week the Heelers travel to Passmore Oval to challenge the Hamilton Hawks who are full of confidence after last weeks win over the competition leaders Merewether Carlton.

This should have been a good sighter for the Heelers camp but unfortunately player stocks will be diminished due to shift work commitments with five regular first graders unavailable.

The Cross Country Kia 2nd’s also had their biggest win of the year in defeating Medowie 34 points to 7.

This win with the bonus point elevates them into semi final contention. Ian David also clocked up his hundred games for the club as well as being voted players player.

This was a good team effort and was mix of youth and experience with a number of 18’s making a significant contribution.

These included Chris Dobie, Dane McDougal, Sam Wash, Jarrod Buckley and James Cuneen.

The MES Resco Heeler Premier Colts (HPC) looked likely to claim a top five scalp against Southern Beaches when they took the field after half time with the scores level at five all and a gale at their backs.

Unfortunately it was not to be, with injuries and bounce not favouring the HPC leading to tries by Beaches before a brave fight back late in the game.

The final score was 31 points to 12.

The Colts have been challenging all opponents in recent weeks and feel they can turn their season. Players finding form like

Chris Huggins at fullback and centre Alex Carter are combining well with new number ten Brodie Mayne.

Ben Wallis, Tom Kirkwood and Simon David are all starting fire and along with some troops returning from injury pointing to some wins just around the corner.

All Heelers teams are playing away at Passmore Oval this week against the Hamilton Hawks so players and supporters should meet at Hotel Eatons at 9am to catch Roscoe and his 158 Osborn’s bus.
